The monsoon season brings with it a refreshing change, from scorching summer heat to cool breezes, lush green views, and the comforting sound of raindrops on windows. At the Cumballa Hill High School, the rains are a welcome sight, but they also come with their own set of challenges.
1. Always carry an umbrella or raincoat
The weather can turn in minutes, especially during monsoon mornings. Keeping an umbrella or lightweight raincoat in your bag helps to make sure that you are never caught off guard and will save you, your books and uniform from an unexpected soak.
2. Wear footwear with grip
Slippery and muddy floors are part of the season. Avoid fancy shoes or flip-flops. Instead, wear shoes with a firm grip that can handle wet surfaces without putting you at risk of slipping.
3. Protect your books and gadgets
Water damage is no joke, especially when it comes to notebooks, assignments, or tablets. Use plastic folders or waterproof bags to keep your school materials dry. Even a large ziplock pouch can be a lifesaver.
4. Keep an extra pair of socks
Soggy socks can make you uncomfortable and distract you in class. An extra dry pair in your bag means you can make a quick switch and carry on with your day feeling warm and fresh.
 5. Eat safe, hot food
Try to resist roadside snacks especially during the rains. Contaminated food is a common source of illness this season. Stick to clean, warm meals from home or the school canteen.
6. Wash your hands often
With all the puddles, wet surfaces, and possible infections going around, it’s more important than ever to wash your hands thoroughly, especially before meals.
The monsoon is a time of beauty and always fun for children, but it also asks for a little extra care. By following these small but meaningful habits, we can all enjoy a safe, clean, and cozy rainy season at Cumballa Hill High School.
Happy monsoon, and don’t forget your umbrella!
