There’s a certain intangible moment every year; that students around the world feel just the same. It isn't something that is announced, but it's unmistakable. At Cumballa Hill High School, it starts as a subtle shift that starts just after the SSC board exams, as the stress felt across even the top schools in Mumbai begins to ease.

Conversations begin to get a little lighter. There’s more laughter between classes. Notebooks are still open and learning is still in full swing;  but somewhere in between, students have already begun counting down.

Summer is coming.

Set along the breezy stretch of Nepean Sea Road, the school carries this transition beautifully. The same corridors that held focus and routine all year now begin to carry a quiet excitement. Students begin to have plans forming, ideas building, and an excited anticipation increasing every day as it draws closer to that one final bell before the summer break.

In a city like Mumbai, summer means one thing to students, freedom to finally do what they’ve been waiting all year for. Whether it’s a summer extracurricular activity for kids like sport, art, travel, or simply slowing down, it’s the season where routine makes a little more space for a bit more freedom to choose for the students.

And as the days inch closer, that excitement only builds. You can feel it.

Summer isn’t quite here for the students of CHHS just as yet, but the feeling has already begun.
